MISSION STATEMENT
We are a small non-profit animal organization located on Edisto Island, South Carolina. We consist
totally of volunteers. We have no employees, and rely totally on donations to
fund our project. Our main goal is to give financial aid to pet owners to reduce
the cost of having their pets spayed/neutered and vaccinated. We also provide funds for any medical
treatment that is necessary. We also help feral cats. What is a feral cat?
Feral cats are the wild offspring of domestic cats and are primarily the result of pet owners abandonment or failure to spay
or neuter their pets, allowing them to breed uncontrolled. A pair of breeding cats can produce exponentially 420,000 offspring
in a seven year period. We humanely trap these cats and transport them to a veterinarian. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated,
and treated for intestinal parasites. We bring them home and release them where we found them so they can live out a healthy
and content life.
We have spayed/neutered and treated 198 cats since November
2004. Some strays, and some whose owners could not afford the surgery or vaccinations. We have assisted 46
dogs in the same manner. The total of our veterinarian bills as of February 2009 is $13,567. We see the difference in not only the health of the dogs and cats, but also the attitude of the pet owners. Education and word of mouth are paying off. The support of all who can contribute to our
efforts is greatly appreciated.
Within
the heart of every stray Lies the singular desire to be loved.
